Firefly!

Went away for ten days, and when I got back to the barn, the horses were waiting under the trees where I usually park. Hard to describe the amount of joy I feel when up close and all over my little Firefly friend. Many horse-selfies ensued:

I’ve thought about getting a decent camera, but there’s something about the sheer impulsiveness of whipping out the phone in my back pocket, just 6 millimeters of thing between me and the horse or us and the sky. I don’t know if a photographer could capture what I try to find in my random firing – these moments not just of beauty and closeness, but of curiosity, goofiness, and the strange feeling that the horse is, in some way, performing for the camera. So I like to think this is something of a study or a project, rather than some awkward vanity – but then again, who really cares? I just like doing it.
